Please note that: the itinerary is dependent on the weather and the group's condition, your guide will make adjustments as needed for the safety of the group.
The second day of your trek is sure to be a highlight as you start early and enjoy a delicious breakfast before setting off on a gradual ascent to 3,500 meters. The views of the Shira Plateau and Kibo Volcano that you will see for the first time are truly breathtaking.
The trek from Mti Mkubwa Camp to the second high-altitude Shira 1 Camp is relatively easy and takes around 4-5 hours, allowing you to gradually begin the acclimatization process, which is essential for a successful trek.
When you arrive at the camp, your dedicated team will prepare lunch for you, and you can choose to rest in your tent or explore the surrounding area. This itinerary is the perfect way to take in the natural beauty of the mountain while ensuring that you are properly acclimatized and prepared for the days ahead.
Today we embark on an easy hike to aid in acclimatization and discover the unique volcanic rock formations of the Shira Plateau. Our journey will take us to the peak of Shira Cathedral before reaching our campsite at Shira II, which sits at an altitude of 3,850 meters. The campsite boasts magnificent views of the glaciated dome of Kibo and the rugged rim of the Shira Plateau. The panorama of Mt. Meru rising above the clouds from this vantage point is truly mesmerizing. The hike is anticipated to take 5-6 hours.
On the fourth day of your Kilimanjaro trek via the Lemosho route, you will start with breakfast and then hike to Baranco Camp (3,900m). The trail features a gentle ascent and breathtaking views of moorland plateau and lava ridges beneath Western Breach glaciers.
Stop for lunch at Lava Tower (4,600m) before descending into the Great Barranco valley. Upon arrival at Baranco Camp, the tent crew will have set up camp and water will be available for washing. The guide will inform you of the tea and dinner schedule and you will have free time to relax or explore. Before retiring, the guide will give an evening briefing for the next day. Overnight at Baranco Camp.
Note: The duration of hike is around 6 - 7 hours and the distance is around 10km. This itinerary can be adjusted depending on the group's pace and the conditions of the trail.
On day five of our trek, we will embark on a challenging but rewarding hike up the Barranco Wall. This will lead us to a scenic trail on the south-eastern flank of Kibo, where we will be treated to panoramic views of the Southern Icefields. As we progress, the terrain will become more rocky with scree, but we will also have the opportunity to see pockets of lush vegetation in sheltered areas. Our final destination for the day is the Karanga camp, which is situated at an altitude of 4,000 meters. This is the last water point before reaching the summit, and the hike is expected to take between 4-5 hours.
As we ascend to Barafu Camp, we will take in the beauty of the barren alpine desert that surrounds us. The camp offers breathtaking views of Mawenzi peak in the evenings. To ensure we have the energy for our summit bid, we will take a leisurely lunch at the high camp before enjoying an early dinner. We will then rest and prepare for the summit bid of Mount Kilimanjaro
As we depart from Barafu Camp (4,673m) at night, we begin our journey to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro: Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Although the climb is relatively straightforward, the high altitude can present a challenge. To ensure the safety and well-being of each climber, we will be accompanied by a personal guide for the entire ascent. After reaching the summit of Uhuru Peak, we have the option to descend to the nearest glacier before returning to Barafu Camp for a 2-hour rest. From there, we will continue our descent to Millennium Camp (3,950m), where we can reflect on our successful summit bid.
On the final day of your Kilimanjaro adventure, wake up surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of nature. The sense of relief and satisfaction of reaching the summit will be unforgettable. Fuel up with a delicious warm breakfast before making your way down to the Mweka Gate (1,640m) with your fellow climbers. Take a moment to reflect and share your thoughts on the climb in our guestbook. To commemorate your achievement, you will receive a commemorative certificate and we will arrange for a comfortable transfer back to your hotel. Appreciate the last day of your trip and the memories you will take with you.
